Rental Policy

Rental Pick-Up:

Rental items may be picked up after 3pm the day before production or as early as 9am on the day of production. We will happily accommodate you if you require an earlier pick-up time. Please let us know at the time the rental reservation is placed if you need to pick-up before 3pm.

Please note that we require all rentals to be signed for upon pick-up. A signature on the rental contract, including a rental contract signed by a "runner",  signifies that the lessor agrees to all terms and conditions listed on the contract and within this "rental policy" page and acknowledges that all gear was tested and found to be in excellent working condition prior to leaving the shop.

Opening Fee/Emergencies:

Audio Department is open Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. If you require assistance after hours or on a weekend, please call 818-966-2619. Additionally, we may be able to arrange for someone to open the shop for you. In that case we charge an opening fee of $125. The opening fee for a holiday is $250.

Rental Returns:

We ask that all rental items be returned to us by 10am. If you are unable to do so, please let us know in order to avoid incurring any additional charges. Gear returned after 5pm will be subject to an additional day's charge.

Rental Rates:

3 Weeks or Less = 3 Day Charge per 7 day week
4 Weeks or More = 2 Day Charge per 7 day week
Weekends = 1 Day Charge

Canceling a Rental:

We understand the nature of the business and that your job may get cancelled. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible if you will be canceling a rental reservation. Any rental reservation cancelled after 9:15am on the day of pick-up may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 20% of the total rental charge.

Shipment of Rental Items:

If necessary, rental gear can be shipped via UPS or FedEx. The rental period for shipped items begins on the day the items are shipped from our shop and ends on the day we receive the items back, regardless of delays in transit or third party handling.


For all rentals we require proof of insurance listing Audio Department as the "Payee" if gear is lost or damaged. If insurance is not provided to us, we require a 20% deposit based on the total cost of the gear being rented. This charge is in addition to the price of the rental and will be listed as an additional charge on the rental contract.

We reserve the right to change or modify our rental policy, including rates and fees, at any time.
